Laboratory Autoclaves: TOMY SX-500U and SX-700U Vertical Autoclaves

A laboratory autoclave sterilises media, glassware, instruments and waste with saturated steam under pressure. The TOMY SX-500U (50 L) and SX-700U (69 L) are vertical, top-loading laboratory autoclaves that sit on castors, need no plumbing, and run programmable sterilising, heating and warming cycles from a simple digital panel.
JKG BioScience supplies TOMY autoclaves in India, with installation, user training and service. Both models sterilise from 105 to 135 °C, cool faster with a standard dual-fan system, and include stainless-steel baskets.

Why Laboratories Choose TOMY Autoclaves

Plug-in installation

A self-contained water reservoir means no plumbing or steam line. Fill it by hand and drain to a container.

Three cycle types

Sterilise (105–135 °C), heat to dissolve agar (45–104 °C), and warm media for pouring (45–95 °C).

Liquid cycles

Controlled heat-up and exhaust rates help prevent boil-over of media and buffers.

Faster cooling

A standard dual-fan system shortens cool-down; on the SX-700 cooling from 121 °C to 60 °C is up to 28 minutes faster than without fans.

Programmable cycles

Save your routine programmes and run them with a single start.

Mobile and compact

Vertical, top-loading design on castors with stoppers, needing only 20 cm behind for the lid.

Buying guide

How to Choose a Vertical Autoclave for Your Laboratory

Start from your largest regular load and tallest vessel. The SX-700U’s 67.5 cm deep, 36 cm wide chamber takes taller flasks and more bottles per cycle; the SX-500U suits smaller loads and tight spaces. Check your power supply, floor space and any altitude above 600 m, and decide whether you need a data printer or external temperature sensor for validation records.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most. Can’t find what you need? Our team will help.

The price depends on the model (SX-500U or SX-700U), accessories and service plan. Tell us your typical load and we will quote.

No. The SX-500U and SX-700U have a self-contained water reservoir that is filled by hand and drains to a container, so they need only a power supply.

Heating (45–104 °C) dissolves agar and media without full sterilisation; warming (45–95 °C) holds media at pouring temperature after a cycle.

Yes. Dedicated liquid cycles control the heat-up and exhaust rates to help prevent boil-over.

Choose the SX-500U (50 L) for smaller loads and benches with limited space, and the SX-700U (69 L) for larger loads and taller vessels, with a 36 cm diameter, 67.5 cm deep chamber.

Yes. A high-altitude version of the SX-700U is recommended for laboratories above about 600 m (2,000 ft).

Yes. JKG delivers, installs and commissions the autoclave, trains users and provides maintenance and breakdown support.
