Plant Phenotyping Equipment in India for Physiology and Stress Research

Plant physiology asks how a plant functions: how much water it uses, how it regulates its stomata, how efficiently it photosynthesises and how all of that changes under stress. Plant phenotyping equipment turns those questions into numbers that can be compared across many plants, genotypes and treatments.
JKG BioScience supplies and supports plant phenotyping systems from Plant-DiTech and photosynthesis and light-measurement instruments from Photon Systems Instruments (PSI). Pair them with our controlled-environment chambers to get both halves of a physiology experiment right: repeatable conditions and precise measurement.

PlantArray add-ons and software

SPAC-Analytics cloud software, the MultiFerti fertigation add-on, extra sensors and the Flood Control Kit extend each experiment.

Chlorophyll fluorescence

PSI FluorPen handheld fluorometers and FluorCam imaging systems for photosystem II efficiency, OJIP and quenching analysis.

Light and reflectance measurement

PSI SpectraPen spectroradiometers and quantum meters, and PlantPen NDVI and PRI reflectance meters for canopy status.
Plant-DiTech

PlantArray: Gravimetric Plant Phenotyping System

PlantArray continuously and simultaneously measures the water flux between soil, plant and atmosphere for every plant in an array. Each plant sits on its own load-cell lysimeter, so transpiration, water-use efficiency and biomass gain are measured directly while the system controls irrigation plant by plant. Treatments can be compared quickly and non-invasively, with drought-stress phenotyping experiments completed in weeks rather than a full season.

Add-ons

Complete the PlantArray System

SPAC-Analytics

Cloud software tracking weight, soil water content, daily transpiration, biomass gain, water-use efficiency, stomatal conductance and relative water content, with real-time statistics.

MultiFerti add-on

Eight controllers run eight fertigation treatments from separate tanks, with flushing between treatments and EC, temperature and volume sensing.

Sensors add-on

Soil moisture, temperature and EC; air conditions; PAR; NDVI; canopy temperature; soil oxygen; and water depth, EC and pH.

Flood Control Kit

Automated flood events that lower soil oxygen, alone or combined with salinity or nutrient treatments.
Photon Systems Instruments

Chlorophyll Fluorescence and Light Measurement

Chlorophyll fluorescence is a fast, non-invasive window into photosynthesis. Changes in Fv/Fm, the OJIP transient or non-photochemical quenching reveal stress before symptoms are visible. PSI instruments range from pocket-sized pens to imaging systems.

FluorPen and PAR-FluorPen

Handheld chlorophyll fluorometers for the lab, greenhouse and field: Ft, QY (Fv/Fm), OJIP, NPQ and light curves. The PAR version adds a light sensor.

FluorCam imaging

Pulse-amplitude-modulated chlorophyll fluorescence imaging across leaves and whole plants, from handheld and closed units to open and customised systems.

SpectraPen and PlantPen

SpectraPen measures light spectrum and PAR; PlantPen measures NDVI and PRI reflectance for plant vigour and stress.

Controlled conditions

Pair Phenotyping with Growth Chambers

Physiology data are only as good as the conditions they were collected in. JKG Universal Series and Percival chambers hold set temperature and photoperiod, with options for humidity, CO₂, dimmable LED lighting and extended temperature ranges. PlantArray fits most greenhouses and growth rooms; tell us your space and pot size and we will plan the layout.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most. Can’t find what you need? Our team will help.

Instruments and systems that measure plant traits such as water use, growth rate, stomatal conductance and photosynthetic efficiency, so that genotypes and treatments can be compared objectively. Gravimetric platforms such as PlantArray, chlorophyll fluorometers and imaging systems are common examples.

Each plant sits on its own load cell, which records weight continuously. Changes in weight give transpiration, water-use efficiency and biomass gain for every plant, without disturbing it.

Yes. Each control unit has its own valves, so different irrigation, fertigation, salinity or flood treatments can run side by side in one experiment.

FluorPen suits quick, handheld measurements of single leaves in the lab, greenhouse or field. FluorCam images fluorescence across whole leaves or plants and supports full quenching and OJIP analysis.

Yes. PlantArray and FluorCam work in greenhouses, growth rooms and chambers. Tell us the chamber dimensions and pot size and we will advise on the layout.

Cost depends on the number of plants, pot size, add-ons and sensors. Share your experiment design and we will prepare a configuration and quotation.

Yes. JKG installs and commissions the systems it supplies, trains your team and provides ongoing support.
