Walk-In Room or Reach-In Chambers?
| Consideration | Walk-in growth room | Reach-in chamber |
|---|---|---|
| Scale | Large numbers of plants, taller plants, or several researchers working at once | Replicated experiments with pots or trays on shelves |
| Layout | Room-size structure built to your dimensions | Self-contained cabinet that sits in a laboratory |
| Growing height | Up to 238.8 cm (PR-106) | Up to 123.4 cm (JKG-41L1E) or 174.5 cm (PGC-20) |
| Growth area | 4 to 23 m² in standard configurations | Up to 2.8 m² (JKG-66L3E) or 5.1 m² (AR-100L3) |
| Site work | Needs space, power, heat rejection and, for humidity, water and drainage | Needs floor space, power and clearance around the cabinet |

Frequently Asked Questions
What size can a walk-in growth room be?
Rooms are built to any size or configuration. Standard configurations range from about 1.8 × 3 m to 3 × 3 m floor plans, with up to 23.2 m² of shelf area in the seven-tier SS-810 seed storage room.
When is a walk-in room better than reach-in chambers?
Choose a walk-in room when you need to grow many plants at once, plants taller than a reach-in chamber allows, or when several researchers must work inside the space. Reach-in chambers suit smaller, replicated experiments.
Which lighting is available?
Rooms can be fitted with SciBrite or SciWhite LED lighting. SciBrite offers adjustable spectrum, and SciWhite is a white spectrum enriched with red for general plant growth.
What temperature and humidity ranges can a room reach?
Plant growth rooms operate from 10 to 44 °C ± 1.0 °C with lights on, incubator rooms from 7 to 44 °C and the CTH-89 from 4 to 44 °C. Humidity control of 40–85% is optional on growth rooms, and the CTH-89 holds 40–85% RH ± 5%.
Can a walk-in seed germination or seed storage room be built?
Yes. The IR-89L5 is a five-tier incubation room and the SS-810 a seven-tier seed storage room holding 4–30 °C at 30% RH above 10 °C. Rooms can be configured for walk-in seed germination as well.
What does a walk-in growth room cost in India?
Cost depends on room size, number of tiers, lighting, temperature and humidity range, and the cooling arrangement, plus site work. Share your requirements and we will prepare a quotation.
Can a room be extended later?
Yes. More rooms can be added and configurations modified as a research programme grows.
What does installation involve?
The room is installed and commissioned on site once the space, power, water and drainage are ready. JKG provides installation and commissioning for the equipment it supplies, followed by maintenance contracts and breakdown support.
