LED Plant Growth Chambers with Specialized Lighting
LED Growth Chamber Lighting at a Glance
| System | Spectrum and control | Intensity at 15 cm | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|---|
| SciBrite LED | Four or eight colours; the standard four are blue, red, white and far-red. Each colour dims from 1 to 100% in 1% steps, by tier. | Up to 1,850 µmol/m²/s standard; 2,100 µmol/m²/s or higher on request | Light-quality and photomorphogenesis studies, specific wavelengths |
| SciWhite LED | White spectrum enriched with red, 660 nm peak (blue 14%, green 41%, red 42%, far-red 3%). Dims from 10 to 100% in 1% steps. | Up to 1,700 µmol/m²/s | General plant growth, seed germination, plant pathology, indoor farming R&D |
| SciWhite for Marine | Two channels: one blue-rich for coral, one white with 450, 660 and 730 nm peaks for marine plants. Nano-coated against water and dust. | By configuration | Coral, phytoplankton, kelp and marine algae |
| IncuWhite LED | White LEDs matched to natural light for incubators. Flicker-free, dimmable in 1% steps, protected against dust and water. | 100–230 µmol/m²/s, by model | Incubation, insects, seedlings, low-light photosynthesis |
| IncuBrite LED | Supplemental colours: UVA 380, violet 420, blue 450, green 520, orange 620, deep red 660 and far-red 735 nm, by shelf or whole chamber. | Supplemental | Low-light work; red light for insects, which cannot see red |
| PetriClear | Dual-channel white (6000 K, CRI 90) and infrared LEDs; infrared warms Petri dish lids above dew point to prevent condensation. | 170–200 µmol/m²/s | Plant tissue culture, fungi, bacteria and yeast |

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an LED plant growth chamber?
A controlled-environment chamber that uses LED lamp banks instead of fluorescent lamps. LEDs give finer control of intensity and spectrum, add less heat, and improve temperature and humidity control.
Is the lighting dimmable?
Yes. SciBrite colours dim from 1 to 100% in 1% steps, SciWhite from 10 to 100% in 1% steps, and tiers can be dimmed independently as an option.
What is the maximum light intensity?
SciBrite reaches 1,850 µmol/m²/s and SciWhite 1,700 µmol/m²/s at 15 cm as standard, and LED lighting can be configured to 2,100 µmol/m²/s or higher. LED configurations of 2,100 µmol/m²/s or higher are available on JKG-41 and JKG-66 chambers.
Which lighting suits Arabidopsis?
Arabidopsis chambers come standard with SciWhite LED lighting, with SciBrite as an option for light-quality work. See Arabidopsis chambers.
Can I change the spectrum of a SciWhite chamber?
Yes. Supplemental IncuBrite or SciBrite LEDs can be added to tune the spectrum, or to give one shelf or the whole chamber a specific wavelength.
Can walk-in rooms have SciBrite lighting?
Yes. Walk-in growth rooms can be fitted with SciBrite or SciWhite LEDs, with independently adjustable columns or tiers. See walk-in growth rooms.
What is a daily light integral option?
It lets you programme light by the total photons delivered over a day (mol/m²/day) rather than only by intensity and hours.
