Drosophila Incubators in India for Fly and Insect Rearing

A Drosophila incubator keeps fly stocks and experiments at a steady temperature and humidity under controlled light. Fly food and rearing vials create an acidic environment that corrodes the coils and components of an ordinary incubator, so a dedicated fruit fly incubator uses protective coatings and humidity control designed for insect work.
JKG supplies Percival Drosophila chambers in India: the DR-36 and DR-41 in non-lighted (NL) and vertically lit (VL) versions, and the TE-36VL thermoelectric chamber. Every DR model comes standard with additive humidity, and the IntellusUltra controller fine-tunes temperature and humidity for healthy stocks.

Why a Dedicated Fruit Fly Incubator

Protective coating

A special coating protects chamber components from the acidic environment of insect rearing, extending the chamber’s working life.

Humidity as standard

Additive humidity on every DR model keeps food and stocks from drying out.

Stable temperature

±0.5 °C control for consistent development times between generations.

Vertical lighting

VL models light five tiers from the sides with IncuWhite LEDs that closely match natural light.

Programmable day–night cycles

The IntellusUltra controller runs light, temperature and humidity programmes for behaviour and circadian work.

Insect screen and coated coils

Options include an air filter assembly (insect screen) and coated coils for insect research.
Models

Percival Drosophila Incubators and Insect Rearing Chambers

Choose NL for stock maintenance in the dark or VL for lit experiments, and the 36 or 41 cabinet for your number of vials and bottles.

Thermoelectric

TE-36VL Thermoelectric Drosophila Chamber

The TE-36VL uses thermoelectric cooling instead of refrigeration, for consistent temperature control, reliability and easy maintenance. It holds 13–45 °C ± 0.5 °C with five vertically lit tiers at 120 µmol/m²/s and 2.3 m² of shelf area.

Insect Growth Chambers Beyond Drosophila

Lighted incubators

Percival incubators with IncuWhite LEDs are used for insect and amphibian studies, from compact 30-series to two-door 66-series cabinets.

Red light for insects

IncuBrite supplemental LEDs add red light, which insects cannot see, to observe them without disturbing their behaviour.

Walk-in insect rearing rooms

For large colonies, walk-in rooms are built to any size with controlled temperature, humidity and lighting. See walk-in growth rooms.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most. Can’t find what you need? Our team will help.

Fly food and rearing create an acidic environment that corrodes standard coils and components. Drosophila chambers carry a protective coating, so they last longer under these conditions.

No. Drosophila rearing needs a different coil coating, so it is supplied as the Percival DR series.

NL (no light) suits stock maintenance and dark incubation from 2 °C. VL adds vertical IncuWhite LED lighting at 120 µmol/m²/s for experiments that need a light–dark cycle.

Yes. All DR models come standard with additive humidity.

Thermoelectric cooling has no refrigeration system, giving consistent temperature control, reliability and easy maintenance.

Yes. Drosophila and lighted incubators are used for many insect and amphibian studies, and walk-in rooms suit large colonies.

Price depends on the model and options. Tell us your stock numbers and conditions and we will quote.
